Lesbian Identity Construction: An Adhesive Identity Proces

As part of the sexual minority, lesbians receive less attention than gay men. Compared with men, bear more pressure from traditional culture and social discipline, their identification process is complicated. In other words, form a open "mixed self" in accepting multi-culture multiple identities. To explore identity status mode lesbians, qualitative interview was used to conduct in-depth interviews 5 lesbians. The results show that main interaction dimensions are as follows: self, parents, heterosexual community, homosexual community above four dimensions, different situations or same situation will change way individuals manage Conflicts, coordination, concealment, integration among identities affect psychological state individuals: Steadiness anxiety, sometimes steadiness also lead behavior individual. It can be seen namely acceptance own multi-role identities, roles. By introducing concept adhesive identity, this study enriched interpretation behavioral manifestations lesbian process.
